This situation highlights the number one rule when getting a tattoo in a language you don’t know – you need to know what will be written on you. Unfortunately, Amy didn’t check the meaning of her tattoo before getting it in Fiji.
In her viral video, Amy cried in front of more than 95,000 followers, begging them to help her discover the meaning of the text on her body. “I didn’t know that Fijians could be so evil, because now I have a tattoo, and I don’t even know what it means. Can someone tell me what I’m wearing please?”she asked.
The tattoo, located on her upper thigh, contained the phrase “Matanivola Levu”, which Amy displayed in her video, apparently worried about the meaning. Fortunately, her followers helped clarify the meaning.
One of them explained that “matanivola levu” means “capital letter” in Fijian, while another pointed out that it was actually funny because the phrase means a capital letter, but the letters are small.
Some have even added that the phrase can mean “big book” and symbolize that you have many stories to tell, which is a way of saying that you have many adventures.
Ultimately, Amy admitted that she regrets getting the tattoo, but is now permanently committed to her choice.
